Burglary – A Long Standing Social Menace
Crime has taken on a brand new look this year. The percentage of burglary and crime has increased almost all over the world. Law enforcement agencies have begun to over staff just to deal with the rapid increase in crime.
Crime is a very broad word that holds a large number of offences within it domain. Of the larger and more intense crimes, murder is at the top of the list. The term burglary defines any act that involves the breaking-in or entering an individual’s personal space without consent, such as their home, office or car and stealing items of value. Though not so popular in years gone by, Burglary has fast taken 3rd place on the list of frequently occurring forms of crime. It is a serious offence and is punishable with jail time or high end fines.
A burglar will usually break in to your home, office or car and steal key items such as a TV, VCR or DVD player, cash, jewelry, wallets, stereos etc. Other high tech and expensive electronic gadgets that could be sold for some easy money are the most popular amongst stolen items. Usually a crime of this sort occurs in a space that is easy to get into; this is why most law enforcement officials advise that homes and offices should be secure.
There are many precautions that one can take to safe guard their home or office from such crimes. Keeping a highly trained watch dog is a good option as they are effective in detecting and scaring away potential offenders. These days the most popular item being used to fight and safe guard against this is a burglar alarm or a security system. These come in a large variety of brand names, each one offering features that allow you to keep your home or office secure.
Considered a social menace, burglary is still a sad fact that exists in our society. It may not be possible to completely eradicate it however, precautionary measures can be taken to protect your home and keep your family safe.
